To help you co-ordinate your day, the children’s events start at 10.00, 12.45 and 15.00. There will be a child-friendly race briefing 15 minutes before the start of each event i.e. at 09.45 for the 10.00 event, 12.30 for the 12.45 event and 14.45 for the 15.00 event. The children will take part in age group waves. We usually organise the waves as follows:

  • 3-4 years
  • 5-6 years
  • 7-8 years
  • 9-10 years
  • 11-14 years

Please note these age bands may change depending on total entries.

Running order

We start with the older children so the younger children can see how things work. To prevent the youngest children having a very long wait, we may decide to start them in the middle of the running order depending on numbers. We expect the last wave to start 30 to 40 minutes after the first one so please plan sufficient time.

Helmets are compulsory and most of the children wear their helmet for the duration of the whole race.

We can not guarantee entry slots on the day.

The children’s races are suitable for 3 to 14 year olds.

Race format and distances

The children’s event will follow the same format as the adult race: RUN – BIKE – RUN.

Our team are able to support a limited number of young children and the course is suitable for bikes with training wheels (stabilizers).

IN THE INTEREST OF SAFETY, ONLY MI SPORT TEAM MEMBERS WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE COURSE AND IN THE TRANSITION AREA.

Comments from previous events

Just wanted to say thanks to you and your team for the kids activities at Blenheim last weekend. We had four kids with us and they all thoroughly enjoyed themselves doing both the challenges and the duathlons. My 4 year old was especially proud of himself for completing the race on Saturday afternoon.
You & your team were fabulous and had a really great way of handling the kids – not patronising but giving them loads of extra confidence.

We were all really impressed with your set up on Sunday. Rory had a great time. Your crew were exemplary in their positive approach to the kids & it was perfectly organised.
